DreamScene Seven

An image is worth a thousand words, but considering that a standard video has about 25 frames per second, we could say that a two minute video is worth fifty thousand words, which is considerably more. If you are bored with the same old desktop and you can not find new images to use as a wallpaper, you might want to consider placing a short video. DreamScene Seven makes this possible, without requiring too many skills. If you know how to place an image on the Windows 7 desktop, you will have no troubles with this application.

You will be pleased to know that DreamScene Seven is freeware. The setup file is 1.75 Mb large and you can install the program almost instantly. The bad news is that Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit) is the only platform that supports this application.

The only window you will interact with is a small window with Install and Uninstall buttons. After clicking the Install button, the software will install and apply a new desktop theme. You can switch to a different theme at any time in the operating system's Personalization window. Once DreamScene is installed, you can place videos, in WMV or MPG format, on your desktop, just like a wallpaper. All you have to do is right click a video file, and select an option from its context menu.

The video will play on your desktop and you can work as usual at the same time. It is possible to select icons, move them, open windows, access the context menu and so on, without affecting the video in any way. When the playback is over, the video will replay automatically. There are no playback options available, but you can place a standard image or a different video at any time.
